Our Sustainability Promise
Our Sustainable Promise
We're doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint and become more environmentally friendly!
At AfroTouch Design we are trying to make a difference and doing our very best to be kinder to the environment and so pledge to use mostly recycled, recyclable, sustainable, or eco-friendly products to reduce our negative impact on the environment.
Our Greeting Cards
Our greeting cards are sourced from FSC certified suppliers. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international organisation dedicated to improving responsible management of the world's forests. Our Fabrics are sourced in the UK. Since our African fabrics are from different sources, we don’t necessarily know their origin, however, we always use high quality African wax print fabric that always comes with a quality seal and state 100% premium cotton.
Our Paper Planners
Our planners are made using 100-120 GSM uncoated paper and are backed with 700 micron greyboard.
Our 11oz Ceramic mugs are great products to add to any eco-friendly home. Both natural and food-safe, ceramic dinnerware is significantly more sustainable than plastics which can actually leach toxins into the food we eat!
We try to use mostly eco-friendly packaging, our envelopes are acid-free, FSC certified. Our green mailers are fully recyclable and degradable and therefore perfect for the eco-conscious. Our packing tape is made in the UK from recyclable premium fibrous brown kraft paper
We also use printed tissue paper from No Issue and have joined their Eco-Packaging Alliance to contribute to global reforestation. Their tissue is made from cellulose fiber where the active acid pulp is eliminated during processing. It is also lignin- and sulfur-free, meaning that the ink won’t transfer from the tissue and the paper won’t leave behind any of these chemicals when decomposing. It is printed using soy inks which are an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based inks.
We use clear biodegradable greeting card bags made from 30mu Nativia® PLA film which is made from renewable resources - PLA bio-based resin is sourced from corn or other sources such as sugar beet and potatoes among others). It is also Vegan friendly, as is the ink used to print on them.
The film is fully compostable acording to the EN13432 standard and has achieved the OK BIOBASED certificate from Vincotte. This certification means that you can be sure that it will break down quite quickly into carbon dioxide, water and biomass by microbial digestion in the right conditions
