March taught me to be my authentic self

March taught me to be my authentic self

Hope you’ve had a great March 2018. I can’t believe we are nearing the end of the month and Easter 2018 is almost upon us.

Where have I been this month?

I had the pleasure of exhibiting at the CreatHers networking event. It was my first exhibition of the year to showcase mt afrocentric greeting cards and I definitely was not going to let the snow keep me from attending. It was great meeting creative professionals, entrepreneurs and other business women wanting to network and collaborate. My main takeaways from the event were:

  1. Persistence is key, and
  2. Whilst it’s important to work hard, it's also wise to work smart.

Special Touch Designs Afrocentric Greeting cardsIf you’re always the last one to leave the office because you feel that it shows your dedication to the cause and hard work, be mindful that it could also be construed as you not effectively managing your time during the day, people who work smart leave on time!

Both notions definitely gave me some food for thought.

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Bridget Daley on the Parents in Biz Podcast. It was a great opportunity to talk about my life in business, the challenges I face being a mum, business owner, and employee. If you get the chance whilst your commuting or have some downtime you can listen here.

You can also catch me at the following up and coming events:

What’s Inspired me this month
Thank you to everyone who purchased a Mother’s Day card. I really hope your Mum’s loved their Special Touch Design Cards. We also celebrated International Women’s Day this month and the focus was #pressforprogress. To me, this means creating an environment where you can unapologetically speak your truth and be your authentic self. As a woman who is also a mum, we have the unique ability to take a cotton bud and turn it into a hat! How innovative is that! Check out my daughter's school Easter Bonnet entry.

Special Touch Designs

In celebration of International Women's Day, I have a new Birthday Girl Bundle available which includes 12 high quality hand-finished fabulous Special Touch Design Cards for the amazing women in your life.

What’s new on Special Touch Designs?
This month I finally launched the Special Touch Designs Rewards Program for my Special Touch Tribe. It’s my opportunity to give back to you for spending your coin on the website. Feel free to sign up and start receiving Special Touch Points today. For more information click here.

What I’m listening to
I’ve been drowning myself in Podcasts this year and I’m really loving the Business Life and Joy Podcast by Shunta Grant and the Parents in Biz Podcast by Bridget Daley Shunta has taught me all about striving for harmony over balance and I talk about this in my podcast interview with Bridget.

What I’m reading
I’ve started reading Crushing It!: How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence-and How You Can, Too by Gary Vaynerchuk – He has a very no-nonsense straight-talking approach to entrepreneurialship and he has some very simplistic business philosophies.

What I’m watching
I honestly can’t get enough of This Is Us: Season One [DVD]  It’s a heart warmer and tear-jerker of a series with some great messages.

I would be lost without my…….

Daily Planner. My planner has been seriously helping me stay focused and on top of things. I have two, the Passion Planner and the Lux Productivity Planner

Thanks for your continued support, feel free to interact with me over on my facebook page or say hello on Instagram

Until x
